Jolteon evolves from Eevee when exposed to a Thunder Stone. It is a pure Electric type, 0.8 meters tall and 24.5 kilograms. Its standard ability, Volt Absorb, restores its HP when an Electric-type move hits it instead of dealing damage, and its hidden ability is Quick Feet.
Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon were Eevee's only evolutions in Generation I. The family has since grown to eight with Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon, each reached by its own route: an evolution stone, friendship at a particular time of day, a special location, or affection paired with a Fairy-type move.
Jolteon debuted in "The Battling Eevee Brothers" as the partner of Sparky, one of three older brothers who each owned one of Eevee's stone evolutions and kept pressuring their youngest brother, Mikey, to evolve his own Eevee. In the Diamond & Pearl series, Sunyshore City Gym Leader Volkner used a Jolteon in his Gym battle with Ash in "The Eighth Wonder of the Sinnoh World!", where it fell to Ash's Infernape.
Jolteon's first English card is the Jungle holo, #4 in the 1999 set, illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Himeno returned for its Legendary Collection holo in 2002, and Skyridge (2003) added another holo by Hikaru Koike.
Its rarer treatments follow the card game's own history. Neo Destiny (2002) printed Light Jolteon, one of that set's Light Pokémon; Delta Species (2005) gave it both a Jolteon ex and a delta-type Jolteon δ; and Power Keepers (2007) carries Jolteon ☆, a Gold Star card printed alongside Flareon ☆ and Vaporeon ☆ in the same set. The Sword & Shield era brought Jolteon V and Jolteon VMAX as Black Star Promos, and Prismatic Evolutions (2025), a set built around Eevee and its evolutions, includes a special illustration rare Jolteon ex by kantaro.
Jolteon has a card in every era from WOTC to Scarlet & Violet. Its Power Keepers Gold Star and its Prismatic Evolutions special illustration rare each have Flareon and Vaporeon counterparts in the same set, which makes the original three Eeveelutions a natural trio to collect together.
