Black & White, released April 25, 2011, is the expansion that opened the Black & White era of the English-language Pokémon TCG under the set code BLW. It carries 114 official cards plus one secret rare, for 115 printings in all. Zekrom and Reshiram, the two dragons on the box art, headline the card list, and Pikachu appears in the secret slot. Several Pokémon, among them Alomomola, Blitzle, Bouffalant, Darumaka and Dewott, are printed in more than one version, and the set leans on Colorless, Grass, Fire and Water types.
The Black & White pull ladder runs through commons, uncommons and rares up to just three chase-tier cards: two Ultra Rares and one Secret Rare numbered past the printed 114. The Secret Rare Pikachu, illustrated by Kouki Saitou, is the most valuable card, followed by the Ultra Rare Zekrom and Reshiram, both drawn by 5ban Graphics. The regular Rare Reshiram and the Rare Zoroark round out the top five. Value is extremely concentrated, with the top five cards holding 80 percent of the set's total card value, so the remaining cards carry very little.
As of October 2026, Black & White ranks 10th of 12 comparable Black & White sets by total card value and 10th by its single most valuable card, and it also sits 10th for trading activity. Its master set value comes in at 0.2 times the era median, and 111th across the 130 sets in the game. At 114 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 111. It followed Call of Legends, which holds more total value, and came before Emerging Powers, which holds less. Its cards first appeared in Japan in BW1: White Collection and BW1: Black Collection, both released December 17, 2010.

A complete Black & White run is 115 printings, and 110 of them are priced. Because the top five cards hold 80 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of finishing it is driven almost entirely by the Pikachu secret rare and the dragon Ultra Rares, while the commons, uncommons and most rares are inexpensive filler. The set has 11 sealed products, mainly decks, tins, a blister, a booster box and booster packs, along with a few other sealed items.
