Guardians Rising is a Sun & Moon era expansion for the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on May 5, 2017 under the set code GRI. It carries 145 official cards, with 24 secret cards numbered above that count, for 169 printings in all. The Pokémon-GX cards define it: Alolan Ninetales GX, Drampa GX, Kommo-o GX and Lycanroc GX each appear in several versions, and Oricorio shows up four times. Its Pokémon lean on Water, Fighting, Psychic and Colorless types, and the headline cards are Sylveon GX and Alolan Ninetales GX.
The Guardians Rising card list climbs from commons, uncommons and rares to 50 chase-tier cards, split between 26 Ultra Rares and 24 Secret Rares that sit past the printed 145. The most valuable cards are the Secret Rare Sylveon GX, the Secret Rare Alolan Ninetales GX, the Ultra Rare Sylveon GX, the Secret Rare Primarina GX and the Secret Rare Metagross GX. Illustrator 5ban Graphics drew all five and 47 cards in the set overall. The top five cards hold 40 percent of the set's total card value, so value is spread across a fair number of chase cards rather than a single pull.
As of October 2026, Guardians Rising ranks 11th by total card value among the 16 comparable Sun & Moon sets, about 0.6 times the era median, and 93rd across the whole game. Its single most valuable card ranks 10th in the era, and it sits 13th in trading activity. At 145 official cards it runs about the same size as the era median of 148. It followed Sun & Moon, which holds less total value, and came before Burning Shadows, which holds more. Its cards first appeared in Japan in SM2K: Islands Await You and SM2L: Alolan Moonlight, both released March 17, 2017.
