Infernape, Torterra and Empoleon lead the Diamond & Pearl expansion, the English-language Pokémon TCG set that opened the Diamond & Pearl era. Under set code DP, it released on May 1, 2007, and its 130 cards stand at the same size as the era median. Each of the three Sinnoh starters' final forms is printed twice, once as a regular card and once as a LV.X. The set leans on Grass, Psychic, Colorless and Fighting Pokémon, and its cards first appeared in Japan in DP1: Space-Time Creation.
The Diamond & Pearl card list climbs from commons and uncommons through rares and holo rares to just three chase-tier cards, all Rare Holo LV.X. Those three are the starters themselves: Infernape tops the most valuable cards, Torterra follows in 2nd, and Empoleon sits 4th, all illustrated by Shizurow. Between them, Kagemaru Himeno's Gengar ranks 3rd as a plain Rare and Ken Sugimori's Lucario 5th as a Rare Holo. The top five cards hold 48 percent of the set's total card value, so a few LV.X pulls define what this release is worth.
As of October 2026, Diamond & Pearl ranks 11th of the 11 comparable sets in its era by total card value, at about 0.5 times the era median, and its Infernape LV.X also ranks 11th among the era's most valuable single cards. Trading activity is stronger, placing it 6th in the era, and it ranks 92nd by total card value across the 130 sets of the whole game. It followed Power Keepers, which holds more total value, and came before Mysterious Treasures, which holds similar value. Its cards first appeared in Japan in DP1: Space-Time Creation, released November 30, 2006.

A complete Diamond & Pearl run is 130 printings, and all 130 are priced. Because the top five cards carry 48 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of a master set is driven by the three LV.X starters, Gengar and Lucario, while the other cards behave like ordinary commons, uncommons and rares of the period. Sealed product for the expansion includes a booster box, a booster pack and three decks, five products in all. Anyone building the set should treat the LV.X trio as the real gatekeepers to completion.
