Whimsicott

Where Whimsicott comes from: cotton, sheep and a mythical plant

Atsuko Nishida designed both Whimsicott and Cottonee. The design combines a ball of cotton with a sheep, both sources of cloth, and may borrow from the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, a legendary plant once said to grow sheep. Its habit of drifting on the wind and slipping into houses to play pranks suggests tumbleweeds and folklore tricksters such as Brazil's Saci. In the anime it first appeared in the paired films White: Victini and Zekrom and Black: Victini and Reshiram.
