Tyrunt has tiny forelimbs but powerful hind legs with armor-plated knees, and orange spikes above each eye similar to the lacrimal horns of tyrannosaurids like Gorgosaurus. Tyrunt and Tyrantrum are the only Pokémon with the Rock/Dragon type combination and the only Rock-types in the Dragon Egg Group, and were designed by Hitoshi Ariga.
Tyrunt debuted under Grant's ownership in Climbing the Walls!, beating Froakie and Fletchling in Ash's Gym battle before falling to Pikachu's Thunderbolt. In The Tiny Caretaker!, a Tyrunt belonging to a group of Scientists escaped from Team Rocket, was found by Bonnie, and evolved into Tyrantrum to save her. Another Tyrunt lived in the icy world reached through Klefki's keys in Pikachu, What's This Key?.
Tyrunt's earliest card was an Uncommon in Furious Fists illustrated by 5ban Graphics, followed by a Forbidden Light printing. In the Mega Evolution era it has an MEP Black Star promo by Shimaris Yukichi and a Common in Perfect Order by Tomomi Kaneko.
