Heliolisk is a bipedal, lizard-like Pokémon introduced in Generation 6 that evolves from Helioptile when exposed to a Sun Stone, making it the only non-Grass-type Pokémon known to evolve that way. Apart from Helioptile, no other Pokémon shares its Electric/Normal typing. Its three abilities, Dry Skin, Sand Veil and hidden Solar Power, are each affected by a different weather condition (rain, sandstorm and harsh sunlight respectively), and it and Helioptile are the only Electric-type Pokémon in the Dragon Egg Group.
Spreading its frill while sunning itself lets Heliolisk make enough power for a whole city, and it routes that charge into its leg muscles for fast sprints.
Clemont owns a Heliolisk that he introduced in Clemont's Got a Secret! and that he mainly relies on for Gym battles, leaving it with Clembot for Gym battles while he is away.
Heliolisk is probably modeled on a frilled-neck lizard; with the frill fully open its face looks like the sun, and its black coloring may hint at an eclipse. Its English name draws on helios, Greek for sun, plus basilisk.
Heliolisk's first card was a 2014 Flashfire Rare illustrated by 5ban Graphics, and Kouki Saitou drew its Phantom Forces Rare the same year. Across the Sun & Moon era it appeared in Guardians Rising, Forbidden Light, Team Up and Cosmic Eclipse. It has since appeared as an Illustration Rare in Twilight Masquerade illustrated by Tonji Matsuno, and the Mega Evolution era's Ascended Heroes paired an Uncommon by svlt with an Illustration Rare by Takeshi Nakamura. Illustrators across its run include Kagemaru Himeno, Shin Nagasawa, and Akira Komayama.

The leaders among the most valuable Heliolisk cards come from the XY, Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution eras, and the single most valuable Heliolisk card is the Promo from XY Black Star Promos, 2013. All 16 Heliolisk cards carry a market value, spanning 2013 to 2026, and the ten leading cards hold 96 percent of the total value. Heliolisk card value is therefore spread thinly past the top ten, with the Promo and a pair of illustration rares setting the pace for the species.
The XY Black Star Promos Heliolisk from 2013 leads Heliolisk card value and sits about equal with the next card, the Twilight Masquerade illustration rare from 2024. An illustration rare is a card with artwork that extends across most of the frame. Ascended Heroes from 2026 supplies another illustration rare in 3rd place. Phantom Forces from 2014 follows with a Holo Rare, a card with a foil-treated picture area, and Flashfire from 2014 adds a Rare in 5th.
Heliolisk cards in the top twenty-five are spread across five eras: Sun & Moon holds 4, while XY, Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution hold 3 each. The newest era's leader is the Ascended Heroes illustration rare from 2026, 3rd overall. Vintage means the WOTC era, and no Heliolisk card from it reaches the top ten or the top twenty-five; all 10 of the leading cards and 16 of the top twenty-five are modern.
Among the ten leading Heliolisk cards, the printed rarities are 3 Rare, 2 Illustration rare, 2 Uncommon, 1 Common, 1 Holo Rare and 1 Promo. Widening to the top twenty-five, the count reads 5 Uncommon, 4 Rare, 3 Common, 2 Illustration rare, 1 Holo Rare and 1 Promo. Those Heliolisk cards sit in sets such as Twilight Masquerade, Cosmic Eclipse and Guardians Rising, and no 1st Edition or Shadowless print appears among them.
By the value of its single leading card, Heliolisk ranks 858th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 664th of 753. Its evolution line has one other member, Helioptile, whose top card ranks 913th of 1020. For the Heliolisk card market, that means a small, modern set of cards where a promo and two illustration rares set the top of the ranking.
