Sneasler resembles a cat-weasel hybrid with long arms tipped in poisonous claws, a red-and-black feather trailing from one ear, and great strength despite its lanky build. Its evolution was the result of Hisuian Sneasel adapting to life on cliffsides in the frozen highlands of Hisui. Bulbapedia links it to weasels and the kamaitachi, sickle-armed weasel yokai, and to the onyudo, a monk-like yokai said to bring illness, which may explain its humanoid build and Poison type. A free climber or a ninja may also have fed into the design, which Hitoshi Ariga created.
A silhouette of Sneasler climbing a mountain leaked months before the game's release. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus's internal code, Sneasler did not have Unburden as an Ability, and its color scheme echoes Sneasel's palette from Pokémon XD.
Sneasler's cards begin in Astral Radiance with a Holo Rare Hisuian Sneasler illustrated by Kouki Saitou, alongside a Holo Rare V and two Ultra Rare V printings in the same set. Lost Origin later added a Radiant Rare Hisuian Sneasler illustrated by Akira Komayama.
