Hypno

Hypno in the anime: from Hypno's Naptime to Faba's memory wipe

Hypno debuted with Drowzee in Hypno's Naptime, where a town's Pokémon Lover's Club used the pair to cure their insomnia, and Hypno's sleep waves started making local children behave like Pokémon. In Johto, Harrison's Hypno knocked out Ash's Totodile at the Silver Conference before falling to Snorlax. In Sun & Moon, Faba of the Aether Foundation used a Hypno to try to erase Lillie's memories in Mission: Total Recall!, until Gladion's Silvally defeated it.

Hypno on cards: Fossil, Dark Hypno and two Trainers' Hypno

Hypno's first cards came in Fossil (1999): #8, a holo, and #23, its non-holo counterpart, both illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Team Rocket (2000) followed with Dark Hypno, one of the set's Dark Pokémon, in holo and non-holo versions by Kagemaru Himeno, and Gym Challenge (2000) printed Sabrina's Hypno for the Saffron City Gym Leader.

Aquapolis (2003) added a holo H12 by Mitsuhiro Arita, and Team Rocket Returns (2004) revived Dark Hypno for the EX era. Its later cards include a BREAKpoint Rare (2016) and, in 2025, Team Rocket's Hypno in Destined Rivals, an Uncommon by Yuya Oka that returns it to the villains' side. Ken Sugimori (four) and Mitsuhiro Arita (three) have the most illustration credits on Hypno.
