Froakie is a Generation VI Water type starter Pokémon with light blue skin and protruding, vertically oriented eyes, producing bubbles called Frubbles from its chest and back to reduce damage from attacks. It acts carefree to trick enemies before overwhelming them with sudden speed, and it is both light and strong enough to jump incredibly high. It evolves into Frogadier at level 16, and Frogadier evolves into Greninja at level 36. Yusuke Ohmura created Froakie, and its line is the only Water type starter line found solely in the Water 1 Egg Group.
Froakie appeared in Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin! and became Ash's earliest capture in the Kalos region after helping him calm down a Garchomp and following him in Lumiose City Pursuit!. It evolved into Frogadier in A Stealthy Challenge! during a battle alongside Pikachu and Sanpei's Greninja against Saizo's Barbaracle. Goh also caught a Froakie in The Future is Now, Thanks to Strategy!, which evolved into a Frogadier in Catching the Aura of Fate!, and a Mirror World Froakie belonging to Mirror Ash appeared in a flashback in The Cave of Mirrors!, used in a battle against Mirror Serena's Fennekin.
Froakie's first card was a 2013 Kalos Starter Set card by 5ban Graphics, who also drew its XY set and McDonald's Collection cards. The Mega Evolution era brought Froakie into Chaos Rising with a Common by Kariya and an illustration rare by Susumu Maeya.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
Froakie card value sits almost entirely in a few prints: the ten leading cards hold 97 percent of the total, and the most valuable Froakie card is the XY Black Star Promos entry from 2013. All 20 Froakie cards carry a market value, and they span 2013 to 2026. That leaves the most valuable Froakie cards concentrated at the top, with the remaining ten cards sharing the last 3 percent.
The 2013 XY Black Star Promos Froakie leads Froakie card value, ahead of the McDonald's Collection 2014 card by 1.2 times, so the first two sit close together. Third is the Shiny rare from the Hidden Fates Shiny Vault in 2019, a shiny-variant card from that set's vault. Fourth is a second XY Black Star Promos Froakie, and fifth is the Illustration rare from Chaos Rising in 2026, a card style built around the artwork.
The XY era supplies the most Froakie cards among the twenty-five leaders with 9, followed by Sun & Moon with 4, then Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution with 3 each. Sword & Shield contributes 1. The newest era's leader is the Chaos Rising Froakie from 2026, 5th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all 10 of the top ten and all 20 of the top twenty-five Froakie cards are modern.
Promos lead the ten most valuable Froakie cards with 3, followed by 2 Commons, 1 Illustration rare and 1 Shiny rare. Widening to the leading twenty-five, Commons take the largest share with 12, alongside 3 Promos, 1 Illustration rare and 1 Shiny rare. Promo prints sit among the top Froakie cards, and Commons make up most of the wider group.
By the value of its single leading card, Froakie ranks 478th of 1020 species with priced cards. By the combined value of its ten leaders, it ranks 379th of 753. Within its evolution line, Greninja ranks 94th of 1020 by top card and Frogadier 805th. Froakie's card market is built on a small cluster of leading prints, and its top card sits in the middle of the species field.
