Delphox evolves from Braixen at level 36 and is the final form of Fennekin. It carries a stick that it uses like a magic wand, igniting the tip when in use and hiding it away in its sleeve-like fur when not. Delphox is the only Psychic-type first partner Pokémon, and its line is based on a fox, specifically the fennec fox, sharing characteristics with kitsune and kitsune-mochi, witches in Japanese folklore who inherit their powers from foxes.
Delphox can Mega Evolve into Mega Delphox using Delphoxite, a Mega Stone introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The Mega form leans harder into the witch image, adding black to its robe and sleeves and a long, beard-like fall of white chest fur. Mega Delphox, Mega Chesnaught, and Mega Greninja were among the last Mega Evolutions revealed before the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, along with Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y.
Delphox's first card came in the 2013 Kalos Starter Set, followed by a Rare in the XY base set. It also has a Delphox EX in the XY Black Star Promos. Fates Collide added both a standard Rare and a BREAK Ultra Rare, and Forbidden Light gave it a Sun & Moon era Rare. Lost Origin printed a Delphox V in both Holo Rare and Ultra Rare, and Silver Tempest added a further Rare. The Mega Evolution era added a Chaos Rising Rare by Gemi and a Double Rare Mega Delphox ex in Pitch Black.
