Beautifly evolves from Silcoon, itself evolved from Wurmple, while the alternate branch produces Cascoon and then Dustox. It gathers pollen and nectar, its favorite food, through a long curled proboscis, and despite its appearance is known to be aggressive and greedy. Beautifly shares its category, the Butterfly Pokémon, with Butterfree.
In Seeing is Believing, May's Silcoon evolved into a Beautifly, and it went on to compete in many Pokémon Contests throughout her Hoenn journey before being left at the Petalburg Gym. In All Things Bright and Beautifly!, Janet's Beautifly won the Rustboro Ribbon and inspired May to become a Coordinator.
Beautifly debuted in Ruby and Sapphire as a Holo Rare illustrated by Hajime Kusajima, followed by POP Series 1 and Deoxys. Diamond and Pearl and Platinum continued its run, then Dragons Exalted and Roaring Skies carried it through the Black and White and XY eras. Lost Thunder followed in Sun and Moon and Lost Origin in Sword and Shield, before Ascended Heroes gave it both an Uncommon and an Illustration rare in the Mega Evolution era.

Beautifly cards span 2003 to 2026, and the most valuable Beautifly card is the Holo Rare from Ruby & Sapphire (2003). All 11 Beautifly cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 100 percent of the total, so the whole species market sits inside that group. Beautifly card value is led by an EX-era print, with a 2005 Deoxys Rare and a 2004 POP Series 1 Uncommon close behind.
The Ruby & Sapphire Holo Rare from 2003 leads the most valuable Beautifly cards, ahead of the next card by 1.2 times, so the top two sit close together. That runner-up is the Rare from Deoxys (2005). Third is the Uncommon from POP Series 1 (2004), and fourth is the Illustration rare from Ascended Heroes (2026). A holo is a card with a foil-patterned artwork box, an Illustration rare is a full-art style rarity with extended artwork, and the Rare and Uncommon entries are standard non-holo prints.
Beautifly card value is spread across seven eras. Of the twenty-five leading cards, 3 come from the EX era, 2 from Diamond & Pearl and 2 from Mega Evolution, with single cards from Black & White, XY, Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield. The newest era's leader is the Ascended Heroes Illustration rare from 2026, which sits 4th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all 10 of the top ten cards and all 11 of the top twenty-five are modern.
Among the ten leading Beautifly cards, 5 are Rare, 3 are Holo Rare, 1 is an Illustration rare and 1 is an Uncommon. Across the leading twenty-five, the counts are 5 Rare, 3 Holo Rare, 2 Uncommon and 1 Illustration rare. The Beautifly cards at the top of the market are therefore mostly plain Rare prints, with holos and a single Illustration rare mixed in.
By the value of its single leading card, Beautifly ranks 477th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 389th of 753. In its evolution line, Wurmple ranks 78th of 1020 by top card, Dustox 198th, Cascoon 903rd and Silcoon 943rd. Beautifly sits in the middle of the species field, and within its own line it trails Wurmple and Dustox while leading Cascoon and Silcoon.
