Barraskewda is a pure Water type that evolves from Arrokuda at level 26. Its long tan body is streaked with white, fish-bone-like lines, its brown head tapers to a point over a pronounced under-bite, and its tail spins like a propeller. It stands 1.3 m tall, weighs 30.0 kg, and has Swift Swim as its Ability, with Propeller Tail as a hidden Ability.
Bulbapedia ties its design to the barracuda and to pike of the Esox genus, with nods to other predatory fish such as the garpike and houndfish. Spears, spearfishing and torpedoes feed into the look as well, and its name blends barracuda with skewer. Its Japanese name, Kamasujaw, may join kamasu, the Japanese word for barracuda, with jaw.
Barraskewda's earliest printing was a Rare in Rebel Clash illustrated by Kouki Saitou, followed by printings in Vivid Voltage and the Shining Fates Shiny Vault. Fusion Strike added an Uncommon version illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa, and Destined Rivals brought a new Uncommon Barraskewda in the Scarlet & Violet era.
