Now extinct in the wild, Anorith lived in ancient seas 100,000,000 years ago and uses two large segmented claws to capture prey, propelled through water by wing-like appendages on its sides. Though revived from Claw Fossils, it can no longer thrive in today's oceans due to changes in water composition. It evolves into Armaldo at level 40, and along with its evolution it is the only Pokémon with the Swift Swim ability that is also weak to Water-type moves.
Anorith debuted in Where's Armaldo? as a resident of Wales Island, studied by Professor Proctor and Annie Proctor alongside other Fossil Pokémon from Hoenn, and eventually evolved into Armaldo.
Anorith's first cards were two Uncommons in Sandstorm illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita and Ken Sugimori. Legend Maker added an Uncommon by Atsuko Nishida, and Holon Phantoms contributed a delta species Common by Hajime Kusajima. Later Uncommons continued through Legends Awakened, Steam Siege, Cosmic Eclipse, and Silver Tempest.
