Like a crinoid, Cradily's heavy body acts as an anchor preventing it from being washed away by rough ocean currents, and in ancient times it built nests in the shallows of warm seas, coming ashore at low tide to search for prey. It cannot move fast due to its short legs but extends its long neck to capture prey instead.
Cradily debuted in Where's Armaldo? as a resident of Wales Island, first spotted by Max before being found by Annie Proctor and taken to the lab. Steven used a Cradily in Battling as Hard as Stone! during his Masters Eight Tournament match against Ash, defeating Gengar before losing to Pikachu.
Cradily's first card was a holo rare in Sandstorm illustrated by Midori Harada, followed by a Team Magma vs Team Aqua ex card by Ryo Ueda and a Holon Phantoms delta species card by Kouki Saitou. Later rares appeared through Legends Awakened, Plasma Blast, Cosmic Eclipse, and Stellar Crown.

Cradily card value is led by one card, with a clear gap to the rest: the most valuable Cradily card is Cradily ex from Team Magma vs Team Aqua, printed in 2004, and it sits 3.4 times ahead of the next card. All 9 of the Cradily cards carry a market value, and they span the years 2003 to 2024.
Cradily ex from Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004) is a Holo Rare and leads the most valuable Cradily cards by 3.4 times over the next card. That runner-up is Cradily δ from Holon Phantoms (2006), also a Holo Rare. Third and fourth are the Legend Maker (2006) and Sandstorm (2003) Cradily cards, both Holo Rares as well. A holo is a card with a foil-patterned illustration box, so the top of the Cradily card value ranking is made up of holo prints from the EX era.
Of the nine Cradily cards, five of the leaders come from the EX era, and Diamond & Pearl, Black & White, Sun & Moon and Scarlet & Violet each place one. The newest era's leader is Cradily from Stellar Crown (2024), which holds 9th overall. Vintage means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all nine of the Cradily cards in both the top ten and the top twenty-five are modern, with none from vintage.
Among the ten leading Cradily cards, six are Holo Rare and three are Rare. The top twenty-five shows the same split, six Holo Rare and three Rare, since the species has nine cards in all. No Reverse Holo, 1st Edition or Shadowless prints appear among the Cradily cards in the ranking.
By the value of its single leading card, Cradily ranks 282nd of 1020 species with priced cards. Its evolution line has one other member: Lileep ranks 766th of 1020 by its top card. That puts Cradily well ahead of its pre-evolution, and the Cradily card market rests on a single leading card, with the 2004 Team Magma vs Team Aqua print standing apart from the other eight.
