Silicobra is a pure Ground type that evolves into Sandaconda at level 36. The yellow pouch around its neck holds more than 8 kg of sand and stretches further each time it sheds. It swallows sand and blasts it from its nostrils to blind predators before burrowing away, and those specialized nostrils leave it with a weak sense of smell.
Its sand pouch resembles a cobra's hood, and it may be based on the false cobra of North African and Middle Eastern deserts, with the sand-spitting defense recalling spitting cobras. The English name blends silicon and cobra, perhaps with silt. In Japanese its name and its category are the same word, one written in katakana and the other in hiragana, a distinction no other Pokémon shares.
Silicobra's first card is a 2020 Sword & Shield Common illustrated by Misa Tsutsui, alongside a second printing that same set illustrated by Hitoshi Ariga. Shining Fates's Shiny Vault added a Shiny rare by Akira Komayama, and Battle Styles a Common by Atsuko Nishida, before it reached the Scarlet & Violet era through the base set and Journey Together's Hop's Silicobra illustrated by aspara.
