Poipole is a small, purple Ultra Beast with a large head, glowing cyan eyes and mouth, and three head spikes, its needle-like appendages resembling a syringe plunger. In the games it originates from Ultra Megalopolis in Ultra Space, where it is a popular first-partner Pokémon. It has the lowest base stat total of all Ultra Beasts. Poipole and its Evolution were created by James Turner, as were their Shiny forms, and Poipole shares its category name with Naganadel as well as with female and male Nidoran, Nidorina, and Nidorino.
In the anime, Poipole comes from an unnamed world rather than Ultra Megalopolis. Ash's Poipole befriends an Orange Core Minior in Showering the World with Love!, and later has to say goodbye to it.
Poipole's earliest card was an Uncommon in Forbidden Light illustrated by Megumi Mizutani, followed by a Common in Lost Thunder illustrated by Hitoshi Ariga. Unified Minds added a further Common, and the Hidden Fates Shiny Vault introduced a Shiny rare Poipole.
