Lycanroc

Lycanroc in the games: one Rockruff, three wolves

Lycanroc is a Rock type introduced in Generation VII with Pokémon Sun and Moon. Rockruff evolves into it at level 25, and the time decides the form: during the day it becomes Midday Form, at night Midnight Form. Dusk Form needs a Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability leveled up in the evening.

The forms differ in stats, moves and abilities. Midday Form has Keen Eye, Sand Rush and the hidden ability Steadfast; Midnight Form has Keen Eye, Vital Spirit and No Guard; Dusk Form has only Tough Claws. Counted together that is six abilities, a total Lycanroc shares only with Mr. Mime. Midday and Dusk Forms are also the only Pokémon that learn Accelerock.

Dusk Form: an anime debut before a game debut

Dusk Form appeared in the anime before it was in any game. Ash's Rockruff evolved into a Dusk Form Lycanroc in the Sun & Moon series episode Rising from the Ruins!, and the form reached the games about three months later in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Ash's Lycanroc went on to a rivalry with Gladion's Midnight Form Lycanroc.
