Helioptile

Helioptile in the anime

Helioptile debuted in The Journalist from Another Region! as Alexa's companion Pokémon, often seen climbing on her back, and was one of the first Generation VI Pokémon to appear in the series alongside Gogoat. In The Cave of Trials!, a Trainer bought a Sun Stone in Geosenge Town to evolve their own Helioptile into Heliolisk, which prompted Clemont to recall doing the same with his own Heliolisk. It was also among a group of Pokémon that helped befriend a Shiny Phantump in Making Friends and Influencing Villains!.

Helioptile on cardboard

Helioptile's first card is a 2014 Flashfire Common illustrated by 5ban Graphics, joined that year by two Phantom Forces printings from HiRON and 5ban Graphics. The line has continued as a Common through the Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield eras with art from Masakazu Fukuda, Ken Sugimori, and Mina Nakai, reaching the Mega Evolution era with both a Common and an illustration rare in the 2025 Mega Evolution set.

Helioptile's unusual traits

Bulbapedia notes Helioptile is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 289, and no Pokémon outside its line shares its Electric/Normal typing. It is also the only non-Grass-type Pokémon that evolves using a Sun Stone, and it and Heliolisk are the only Electric-type Pokémon in the Dragon Egg Group.
