Eelektrik is the EleFish Pokémon, a dark eel with a round, red-lipped mouth like a leech's and three yellow electric organs along each flank. A hungry meat eater of caves and seas, it wraps around prey and stuns it with a shock before feeding.
It evolves from Tynamo at level 39 and evolves into Eelektross with a Thunder Stone. Eelektrik and its evolutionary relatives were designed by Yusuke Ohmura, inspired by a large eel he once fished from a river, meant to evoke a strong but disgusting quality; their blue and yellow coloring resembles the ribbon eel.
Eelektrik and its evolutionary relatives have no type weaknesses under normal battle conditions, and along with Oricorio they are the only Pokémon included in all three of Scarlet and Violet's Pokedexes. They may also draw inspiration from lampreys, known as yatsume unagi in Japanese.
Eelektrik's earliest card is the 2011 Noble Victories Uncommon illustrated by MAHOU. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated the Dark Explorers Uncommon the following year, and Primal Clash carried both an Uncommon and a Rare printing by match and Naoki Saito.
Sun and Moon era Uncommons came from OOYAMA and Midori Harada, and the Sword and Shield era added four more by Masakazu Fukuda, Shigenori Negishi, Uta and NC Empire before a 2023 Obsidian Flames Common by Souichirou Gunjima. The 2025 Black Bolt set paired an Uncommon by Jerky with an Illustration rare by Kurata So, and Jerky returned to illustrate the Mega Evolution era Ascended Heroes Uncommon.
