Bruxish is a fishlike Pokémon covered in colorful scales, with dark purple lips, sharp teeth, and fins split between dark purple and light blue, in a pattern that recalls psychedelic art.
It appears to be based on the reef triggerfish, also known as the humuhumunukunukuapua'a and the state fish of Hawaii, with its clown triggerfish-style patterning and a Dazzling Ability that suggests dazzle camouflage.
A Bruxish used its Psychic powers to trap a Wailmer near a rock formation before Olivia and her Lycanroc scared it away with Rock Slide. A separate Bruxish was caught by Goh during the Pokémon Catch Adventure Race.
Bruxish's first card was a 2017 Sun and Moon Rare illustrated by Mizue. Mizue also drew its SM Black Star promo. Burning Shadows brought a Masakazu Fukuda Rare, and Surging Sparks later paired a standard Uncommon with an Illustration Rare from Mitsuhiro Arita.
