Avalugg's steel-hard body flattens whatever stands in its way, and with Bergmite clustered on its back it looks like an aircraft carrier, a look that may nod to Project Habakkuk, a wartime plan for a carrier built from ice. In Hisui, a smaller, stone-bodied regional form called Hisuian Avalugg evolves from Bergmite instead, with large gray tusk-like plates on its lower jaw and about half the weight of the Kalosian form. Both forms have the highest base Defense of any Ice-type Pokémon.
Wulfric's Avalugg debuted in his Snowbelle Gym battle against Ash, defeating Hawlucha, Talonflame and Greninja in turn. In a later rematch it beat Pikachu before losing to Talonflame. A separate Avalugg belonging to a Pokémon hunter appeared in The Wild Pair, Friede and Cap!.
Avalugg debuted in Flashfire alongside Bergmite and later appeared as a Rare in Steam Siege illustrated by Saya Tsuruta, a Forbidden Light Rare by sowsow and an Evolving Skies Uncommon by Kouki Saitou. Astral Radiance printed the Hisuian Avalugg form illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, and Chaos Rising carried the line into the Mega Evolution era with art by Tomomi Kaneko.

Astral Radiance's Rare printing shows the Hisuian regional form, illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno.
Chaos Rising continues the line into the Mega Evolution era.
It is a regional form found in Hisui, smaller and stone-bodied compared to the Kalosian Avalugg, with tusk-like jaw plates.
Gym Leader Wulfric used one in both of his Snowbelle Gym battles against Ash.

Avalugg cards come from four eras, and the most valuable Avalugg card is the Rare from Forbidden Light in 2018, part of the Sun & Moon era. All 6 Avalugg cards carry a market value, and they span 2014 to 2026, from Flashfire through to Chaos Rising. Avalugg card value is spread thinly, with the leader only 1.2 times ahead of the second card.
The Forbidden Light Rare from 2018 leads Avalugg card value by 1.2 times over the Steam Siege Rare from 2016, close to level. Third is the Flashfire Uncommon from 2014, the earliest of the group. Fourth is Hisuian Avalugg from Astral Radiance in 2022, a Rare, and fifth is the Evolving Skies Uncommon from 2021. Every leader is a standard Rare or Uncommon print.
The six Avalugg cards split two each between XY and Sword & Shield, with one from Sun & Moon and one from Mega Evolution. The newest era's leader is the Chaos Rising Avalugg from 2026, which sits 6th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all six cards in both the top ten and the top twenty-five are modern, so the species' most valuable cards all date from 2014 onward.
Among the ten leading Avalugg cards, three are printed as Rare and three as Uncommon. Widening to the top twenty-five gives the same three Rare and three Uncommon cards, since the species has only these six priced cards. The Rare prints are the Forbidden Light, Steam Siege and Astral Radiance cards, and the Uncommon prints are the Flashfire, Evolving Skies and Chaos Rising cards. Avalugg cards are therefore standard Rare and Uncommon prints.
By the value of its single leading card, Avalugg ranks 993rd of 1020 species with priced cards. Its only evolution line member, Bergmite, ranks 1016th of 1020 by the same measure, so the line sits in the lower part of the species ranking. With six cards and a leader barely ahead of the second, the Avalugg card market is a small, evenly spread set of Rare and Uncommon prints rather than one built around a single standout.
