Archeops evolves from Archen at level 37. Its wing muscles are weak, so it needs a running start to take off and is better at running than flying, and all four of its limbs can act as wings.
Archeops has the highest base Attack stat of all non-Legendary or Mega Evolved Flying-type Pokémon, and it is the only Pokémon whose base stat total, 567, matches its national Pokédex number. Its Japanese name is also the first Pokémon name in gojuon order, the Japanese equivalent of alphabetical order. Archeops appears to draw inspiration from the Archaeopteryx, once believed to be the earliest of all birds, referenced by its First Bird category, and also resembles a feathered Microraptor.
Archeops's first card appeared in Noble Victories, illustrated by Kouki Saitou, who also illustrated its later Plasma Blast printing. Dark Explorers added a Secret Rare by 5ban Graphics, and Unified Minds and Silver Tempest carried the line forward, with White Flare printing a Rare by Haru Akasaka and an illustration rare by Jerky.
