Wobbuffet

Wobbuffet in the anime: Jessie's uninvited partner

The species debuted in the anime in Tricks of the Trade, the episode where Jessie accidentally trades away her Lickitung and ends up with Wobbuffet, previously owned by a Trainer named Benny. From then on he pops out of his Poké Ball unasked, shouting his own name at the worst possible moments. He sat out most of the Black & White series at Team Rocket headquarters, then was the only one of Jessie's Pokémon to travel with her through Kalos, Alola and Pokémon Journeys.

Wobbuffet on cards: Neo Discovery to Team Rocket's Wobbuffet

Wobbuffet's first cards came in Neo Discovery in 2001, a holo and a non-holo, both illustrated by Hironobu Yoshida. Skyridge (2003) added another by Kagemaru Himeno, and Team Rocket Returns (2004) printed Rocket's Wobbuffet, a Darkness type drawn by Mitsuhiro Arita, one of the set's Team Rocket owned Pokémon.

HeartGold SoulSilver (2010) gave it a holo rare by Yuka Morii, and the XY era added a Wobbuffet BREAK promo. Sword & Shield (2020) printed Wobbuffet V, including an Ultra Rare version illustrated by Ayaka Yoshida. The Scarlet & Violet era brought the anime link full circle with Team Rocket's Wobbuffet, as a promo and in Destined Rivals (2025).
