Wiglett is a long white Pokémon buried within the earth with only its head and part of its body visible, a large pink nose, and an exceptional sense of smell reaching over 60 feet, hiding whenever it detects other Pokémon nearby.
Wiglett and Diglett were initially thought to be the same species due to their resemblance, but differ in habitat and diet, illustrating what fans call convergent species; Wiglett is the only such species whose base stat total differs from its lookalike.
Wiglett appears to be based on garden eels, and may also draw inspiration from razor clams, tube worms and tubifex worms. Its simplistic anatomy, lack of fins, strong sense of smell and Gooey Ability may draw inspiration from hagfish.
Wiglett's earliest cards came in Scarlet and Violet, with two Common printings from Shin Nagasawa and Tika Matsuno alongside an Illustration Rare from You Iribi. Obsidian Flames and Paradox Rift continued the Common run, and Paldean Fates added a Shiny Rare from Misa Tsutsui.

The value of Wiglett cards is spread unevenly: the leading card sits 5.5 times ahead of the second. The most valuable Wiglett card is the Illustration rare from Scarlet & Violet, printed in 2023, followed by the Shiny rare from Paldean Fates in 2024. All 8 of the 8 Wiglett cards carry a market value, and they span just two years, 2023 and 2024, all within the Scarlet & Violet era.
The Illustration rare from the 2023 Scarlet & Violet set leads Wiglett card value by 5.5 times over the next card. That second card is the Shiny rare from Paldean Fates, printed in 2024. An illustration rare is a modern rarity tier that gives a card full-art treatment, and a shiny rare is the alternate-colored version of a Pokémon. Behind them come Common prints from Paradox Rift in 2023, with Scarlet & Violet and Temporal Forces Commons further down the Wiglett cards.
Among the leading Wiglett cards, the printed rarities count as 6 Common, 1 Illustration rare and 1 Shiny rare. The leading twenty-five show the same counts. Commons make up most of the list, spread across Paradox Rift, Scarlet & Violet, Temporal Forces and Obsidian Flames, while the Illustration rare and the Shiny rare are the two single cards at the top.
By the value of its single leading card, Wiglett ranks 550th of 1020 species with priced cards. Wugtrio, the other member of the evolution line, ranks 898th of 1020 on the same measure. The Wiglett card market rests mostly on the Illustration rare from Scarlet & Violet, with the Paldean Fates Shiny rare as the only other card set apart from the Common prints.
