Wailmer is a spherical, tailless whale Pokémon with a dark blue topside, tan grooved underbelly, finger-like fins, and baleen plates resembling teeth. It stores water inside its body and can expel it through its nostrils to startle people, turning into a bouncing ball that bounces higher the more water it holds, though it grows lethargic when dry. It swims with its mouth open, eating large amounts of food such as Wishiwashi, and can only survive on land briefly, though it occasionally bounces onto beaches to play.
A Wailmer befriended Robin in Island Time and evolved into a Wailord to help transport him, Ash, and his friends to a ship bound for Ever Grande City, and in Leading a Stray!, a Wailmer trapped in the sewers was rescued by Ash and helped back to its family in the ocean, evolving into a Wailord in the same episode. A Coordinator's Wailmer competed in the Wallace Cup's Battle Stage in Pruning a Passel of Pals!, losing to Dawn's Buneary, and Professor Kukui, Kiawe, and Sophocles rode Poké Ride Wailmer around Melemele Island in Yo, Ho, Ho! Go, Popplio!.
Wailmer's earliest card was a 2003 Ruby & Sapphire Uncommon illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, with Sandstorm adding a Common illustrated by Ken Sugimori. It is the only Generation 3 Pokémon to have a TCG card containing dot codes for an e-Reader application, and its Mega Evolution era printing, in Pitch Black, is a Common illustrated by Asako Ito.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
The most valuable Wailmer card is the Uncommon from Ruby & Sapphire, printed in 2003, which leads the Wailmer card value ranking ahead of a Common from Legend Maker. All 15 Wailmer cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 94 percent of the total, so the bottom of the list adds very little to the species. The priced cards run from 2003 to 2026, and every one of the ten leaders is a modern-era card.
The Ruby & Sapphire Uncommon from 2003 leads Wailmer card value by 1.9 times over the next card, a Common from Legend Maker in 2006. Third is the Sandstorm Common from 2003, followed by a Great Encounters Common from 2008. Fifth is an Uncommon from Triumphant in 2010. All five are standard printings, carrying the printed rarity of Common or Uncommon.
The twenty-five leading Wailmer cards, which here means all 15 priced cards, split across eight eras: EX, Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield contribute three each, Diamond & Pearl two, and HeartGold & SoulSilver, Black & White, Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution one each. The newest era's leader is the Pitch Black card from 2026 in Mega Evolution, 12th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and the top ten and the top twenty-five are entirely modern.
Among the ten leading Wailmer cards, six are Common and four are Uncommon. Widening to all 15 priced cards, 11 are Common and four are Uncommon. Those are the two printed rarities in either count, so the most valuable Wailmer cards are Common and Uncommon printings spread across sets from Ruby & Sapphire in 2003 to Pitch Black in 2026.
By the value of its single leading card, Wailmer ranks 884th of 1020 species with priced cards. By the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 682nd of 753. Its evolution line has one other member, Wailord, whose leading card ranks 40th of 1020, far above Wailmer. Wailmer card value sits in the lower part of the species ranking, with a market spread over many Common and Uncommon modern prints rather than one dominant chase card.
