Sharpedo debuted in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire as the Water and Dark type Pokémon Carvanha becomes at level 30. It stands 1.8 meters tall and weighs 88.8 kilograms. Rough Skin damages any attacker that makes contact with it, and its hidden ability, Speed Boost, raises its Speed at the end of every turn.
Team Aqua's leader, Archie, uses Sharpedo in his battles. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gave it a Mega Evolution, Mega Sharpedo, which keeps the Water and Dark typing, and Archie's Sharpedo holds the Sharpedonite in those games.
Sharpedo's first card is Ruby & Sapphire #22 (July 2003), a Rare illustrated by Hajime Kusajima. Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004) printed Team Aqua's Sharpedo twice, a Holo Rare (#5) and a Rare (#18), both by Katsura Tabata, and Double Crisis (2015) revived the idea with another Team Aqua's Sharpedo drawn by kawayoo. Holon Phantoms (2006) added Sharpedo δ, a Delta Species card by Mitsuhiro Arita.
Sharpedo has been printed under three generations of the ex idea. Deoxys (2005) had Sharpedo ex by Hikaru Koike. In the XY era, M Sharpedo-EX arrived as a Black Star Promo, and Primal Clash (2015), the set built around Hoenn's Primal Reversion, printed a standard Sharpedo-EX by Eske Yoshinob and a full art version by Ryo Ueda. Camerupt-EX, the Team Magma counterpart, appeared in the same set.
Phantasmal Flames (2025), a Mega Evolution era set, printed Mega Sharpedo ex three ways: a Double rare and an Ultra Rare by 5ban Graphics and a Special illustration rare by nagimiso.
Sharpedo's first card, a 2003 Rare illustrated by Hajime Kusajima.
The holo version of the first Team Aqua's Sharpedo, illustrated by Katsura Tabata.
Sharpedo's first ex card, from the original EX era, by Hikaru Koike.
The full art Ultra Rare Sharpedo-EX, illustrated by Ryo Ueda.
A Special illustration rare by nagimiso from the Mega Evolution era.
Ruby & Sapphire #22, a Rare released in July 2003 and illustrated by Hajime Kusajima.
Our catalog lists 26 Sharpedo printings across 21 sets as of 2026-09-26.

Sharpedo cards span 2003 to 2025, and the most valuable Sharpedo card is the Sharpedo ex from Deoxys, printed in 2005. Of the 26 Sharpedo cards, 25 carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 95 percent of it, so Sharpedo card value rests almost entirely on a short list of prints. The 2025 Mega Sharpedo ex special illustration rare from Phantasmal Flames sits 5th overall.
The Deoxys Sharpedo ex from 2005 leads Sharpedo card value by 2.3 times over the next card, Team Aqua's Sharpedo, a Holo Rare from Team Magma vs Team Aqua in 2004. Third is the Sharpedo EX from Primal Clash in 2015, an Ultra Rare, and fourth is the M Sharpedo-EX from XY Black Star Promos in 2013, a Promo. Fifth is the Mega Sharpedo ex from Phantasmal Flames in 2025, a special illustration rare, a full-art card with a distinct illustrated treatment.
The most valuable Sharpedo cards lean on the EX era, which supplies 6 of the leading twenty-five, followed by XY with 4, then Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield and Mega Evolution with 3 each. The newest era's leader is Mega Sharpedo ex from Phantasmal Flames in 2025, 5th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era and modern is every later era, and the split is all modern: 10 of the top ten and 25 of the top twenty-five.
Among the ten leading Sharpedo cards, the printed rarities are Rare on 4, Holo Rare on 2, Ultra Rare on 2, Promo on 1 and Special illustration rare on 1. Widening to the leading twenty-five, Rare is again the largest group at 9, with Uncommon on 7, Holo Rare on 3, Ultra Rare on 3, and one each of Double rare, Promo and Special illustration rare.
By the value of its single leading card, Sharpedo ranks 163rd of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 170th of 753. Its evolution line has one other member, Carvanha, whose top card ranks 969th of 1020. With 95 percent of value in ten cards, the Sharpedo card market is built around Sharpedo's own prints.
