Toedscruel eats by wrapping prey with its mycelium-like tentacles and sucking out their nutrients, and forms colonies deep within forests that do not welcome strangers. It evolves from Toedscool at level 30, and its line has exactly the same base stats and evolution levels as the unrelated Tentacruel line, a likeness that may nod to convergent evolution.
In the game code of Scarlet and Violet, Toedscool and Toedscruel are referred to by names suggesting they replaced a scrapped idea for an evolutionary line based on Magikarp. Toedscruel is tied with Claydol for the highest base Special Defense of all Ground types, and it is the only Ground type with tentacles.
Toedscruel's first card was an Uncommon in Scarlet & Violet illustrated by nagimiso. Obsidian Flames and Paldean Fates each introduced a double rare Toedscruel ex illustrated by 5ban Graphics, with Paldean Fates also adding a shiny ultra rare ex. Paradox Rift contributed an illustration rare by KEIICHIRO ITO, and Destined Rivals later depicted Arven's Toedscruel.
