Shaymin

Shaymin in the games: Land Forme and Sky Forme

Shaymin is a Mythical Pokémon from Generation IV, usually met through events rather than in the wild: in Pokémon Platinum, the event item Oak's Letter opens the way to Flower Paradise, where it waits. The Gratitude Pokémon is tiny, 0.2 meters tall, and its Land Forme has the ability Natural Cure, which heals its status conditions when it switches out.

Using a Gracidea flower on it in the daytime turns it into Sky Forme, a slimmer, canine-like Grass and Flying type with the ability Serene Grace. It reverts to Land Forme at night or if it is frozen.

Shaymin on screen: Giratina and the Sky Warrior

Shaymin was first announced in February 2008 as a star of the eleventh Pokémon film, Giratina and the Sky Warrior, which opened in Japan in July 2008 and premiered in the United States in February 2009. A Shaymin caught in a clash between Giratina and Dialga ends up with Ash and his friends and asks for their help getting back to the other Shaymin at the Gracidea garden. On a train, it breathes in pollen from a basket of Gracidea flowers and changes into Sky Forme for the first time on screen.

Shaymin on cards: Platinum LV.X to Shaymin VSTAR

Shaymin reached cards in the Diamond & Pearl era, with a promo drawn by Shizurow, and the 2009 Platinum set gave it three regular cards plus two Shaymin LV.X, both by Shizurow. It moved into Black & White with Shaymin-EX in Next Destinies (2012), and XY added Shaymin EX in Roaring Skies (2015), with a full art by Ryo Ueda. Team Up (2019) printed Shaymin ◇, a Prism Star card.

Brilliant Stars (2022) brought Shaymin V and Shaymin VSTAR, including a 5ban Graphics secret rare, and Destined Rivals (2025) added an illustration rare by Heisuke Kitazawa. Shizurow has the most Shaymin credits in our catalog (4), followed by 5ban Graphics (3).

Why collectors follow Shaymin

Shaymin is one of the Generation IV Mythicals, with a film of its own and a second forme, and its cards reflect that: LV.X, EX, Prism Star and VSTAR treatments across 21 sets.
