Scatterbug evolves into Spewpa at level 9, which later evolves into Vivillon at level 12. It processes the poisonous leaves and roots it eats into a black powder that causes paralysis on contact, deters bird Pokémon, and regulates its body temperature so it can adapt to any climate; Grafaiai is a natural predator of Scatterbug.
Multiple Scatterbug appeared in To Catch a Pokémon Smuggler, including one Ash and his friends helped rescue from Dolan and his Diggersby before it evolved into Spewpa. A Scatterbug also appeared in A Festival Reunion, caught by Goh in Shalour City, and made further appearances in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Scatterbug's first card appeared in the XY base set, illustrated by 5ban Graphics, followed by BREAKthrough from Sumiyoshi Kizuki. Forbidden Light printed two Scatterbug cards, and Battle Styles, Scarlet & Violet, and Surging Sparks continued the line before the Mega Evolution era's Perfect Order set added a Common by OKACHEKE.
