Rampardos evolves from Cranidos at level 30. It fights with head-butts that can topple almost anything in one blow, and 100 million years ago it hunted in jungles, flattening trees as it chased prey. Ramming things to train its strength left it with a skull a foot thick and harder than steel.
Rampardos has the highest base Attack stat of all Rock-type Pokémon, and it and its pre-evolution Cranidos are the only Fossil Pokémon of a single type. It is based on the family of dinosaurs known as Pachycephalosauridae, with head ornamentation resembling a Stygimoloch or Dracorex. It also seems to stand for the unstoppable spear, opposite Bastiodon's immovable shield.
Rampardos's first card appeared in Mysterious Treasures, illustrated by Kazuyuki Kano, who also illustrated its POP Series 6 printing. Rising Rivals followed with a Holo Rare Rampardos GL by Suwama Chiaki, and Astral Radiance carried the line forward. The Mega Evolution era's Pitch Black set added two Rampardos ex cards, a Double rare by hncl and an Ultra Rare by 5ban Graphics.
