Poliwag

Poliwag in the anime and manga

Misty caught a Poliwag in The Stun Spore Detour, which evolved into a Poliwhirl in The Totodile Duel and then into a Politoed during Outrageous Fortunes. In Gonna Rule The School, the Pokémon Trainers' School lent a Poliwag to Max, who used it to battle Tommy's Magby and to help defeat Team Rocket. In the manga, Poliwag holds the record for fastest double evolution, taking only one chapter, a distinction it shares with Caterpie and Togepi.

Poliwag on cards

Poliwag's first card came in the 1999 Base Set, illustrated by Ken Sugimori, with Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge each adding a Misty's Poliwag card also illustrated by Sugimori. The Scarlet & Violet era's 151 set gave it a standard Common, while Twilight Masquerade added a later printing illustrated by Kedamahadaitai Yawarakai.
