Pignite is a bipedal, pig-like Pokémon with a chubby orange body banded in brown, a red pig-like nose, and a curled tail tufted with fur. It carries a fire in its stomach fueled by food, and the intensity of that flame rises with fuel or anger, boosting Pignite's speed as it grows; on occasion the heat runs so high that Pignite becomes engulfed in scorching flame. It is willing to defend its friends no matter how strong an opponent is, and it evolves from Tepig at level 17 and into Emboar at level 36.
Ken Sugimori has said the Tepig line was designed in a Chinese style, and Pignite may be based partly on Zhu Bajie, the pig demon from Journey to the West, alongside its resemblance to a British Saddleback pig with wild boar and wrestling-singlet elements. Servine, Pignite, and Dewott's lines were designed to represent Western, Chinese, and Japanese culture respectively for Unova's diversity. Pignite was also a popular fan nickname for Tepig before either Pokémon's English name was officially revealed, and it was internationally shown in the opening of Black and White.
Pignite's paired Black & White uncommons by Kouki Saitou and 5ban Graphics were followed by a McDonald's Collection 2012 card also by Saitou. Boundaries Crossed and Legendary Treasures each added new uncommons, and later sets carried it forward one printing per era: Cosmic Eclipse in Sun & Moon, Battle Styles in Sword & Shield. The Scarlet & Violet era's White Flare paired a common with an Illustration rare by Masa, and the Mega Evolution era's Ascended Heroes added an uncommon illustrated by Aliya Chen.
Black & White's Uncommon Pignite illustrated by Kouki Saitou, its earliest printing.
Legendary Treasures' Uncommon Pignite illustrated by Kanako Eo.
Battle Styles' Uncommon Pignite from the Sword & Shield era.
White Flare's Illustration rare Pignite illustrated by Masa.
Ascended Heroes' Uncommon Pignite, its Mega Evolution era printing.
It evolves from Tepig at level 17 and into Emboar at level 36.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
The Pignite cards that carry value come from the Black & White era and later, with the priced cards spanning 2011 to 2026. The most valuable Pignite card is the Illustration rare from White Flare, released in 2025. All 10 of the Pignite cards carry a market value. The leading two Pignite cards sit about equal, so the species has a short stack of leaders rather than one standout, and the White Flare card is the only one among them printed as an Illustration rare.
The White Flare Illustration rare from 2025 leads the most valuable Pignite cards, and the next card is about equal to it. That runner-up is Pignite from the McDonald's Collection 2012. Behind them come Uncommon prints from Legendary Treasures in 2013, Boundaries Crossed in 2012 and Black & White in 2011. An Illustration rare is a full-art card where the artwork extends across the frame, which makes the White Flare card a modern chase rarity among otherwise ordinary prints.
Black & White supplies five of the twenty-five leading Pignite cards, the largest share of any era. Scarlet & Violet follows with two, and Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield and Mega Evolution have one each. The newest era's leader is the Ascended Heroes Pignite from 2026, 8th overall. Vintage means the WOTC era and modern is every later era, and the split is entirely modern: 10 of 10 in the top ten and 10 of 10 in the top twenty-five.
Among the ten leading Pignite cards, seven are Uncommon, one is Common and one is an Illustration rare. Widening to the leading twenty-five gives the same seven Uncommons, one Common and one Illustration rare. Pignite cards of this value are mostly plain Uncommon prints from different sets, with the White Flare Illustration rare as the single full-art entry among them.
Pignite ranks 670th of 1020 species with priced cards by the value of its leading card, and 513th of 753 by the combined value of its ten leaders. In its evolution line, Emboar ranks 136th of 1020 by its top card and Tepig 435th. Pignite sits in the lower half of species for Pignite card value, with Emboar's leading card well above it and Tepig's also ahead, so the line's value is not built around the middle form.
