Oshawott is a bipedal sea otter Pokémon with a spherical white head, dark blue ears and tail, and a pale yellow shell called a scalchop carried on its belly, made of the same material as its claws. It wields the scalchop like a knife, using it to block enemy moves before slashing back, and evolves into Dewott at level 17 and then into Samurott, or Hisuian Samurott in Hisui, at level 36. Along with fellow Unova starters Snivy and Tepig, Oshawott has the lowest experience yield of any Pokémon in Black and White, a base value of 28 later raised to 62 from Black 2 and White 2 onward, and its evolutionary line is the only Water-type starter line not part of the Water 1 Egg Group.
Ash's Oshawott appeared in In The Shadow of Zekrom!, initially under Professor Juniper's care before choosing to follow Ash, later rescuing him and Iris from Team Rocket in Enter Iris and Axew! and officially joining his party in A Sandile Gusher of Change!. Multiple trainers' Oshawott competed in the Scalchop King Competition in Crowning the Scalchop King!, and Ann's Oshawott, introduced in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), later evolved into a Dewott during Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Oshawott's earliest cards were two 2011 Black & White Commons illustrated by Masakazu Fukuda and 5ban Graphics. Its BW Black Star Promos include printings by Ken Sugimori and Mitsuhiro Arita, and White Flare later paired a Common with an Illustration Rare illustrated by OKACHEKE. Its Mega Evolution era printing is an MEP Black Star Promo illustrated by Saboteri.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
Oshawott cards spread across 2011 to 2025, and the most valuable Oshawott card is the Illustration rare from White Flare, released in 2025. All 15 Oshawott cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 99 percent of the total, so Oshawott card value rests on a short list of prints. The next places go to a McDonald's Collection 2011 card, two BW Black Star Promos Commons from 2011 and an MEP Black Star Promos card from 2025.
White Flare's Illustration rare leads Oshawott card value by 3.6 times over the next card, the McDonald's Collection 2011 Oshawott. An illustration rare is a full-art card type from the Scarlet & Violet era. Third and fourth are two Commons from BW Black Star Promos, 2011, and 5th is a Promo from MEP Black Star Promos, 2025. The most valuable Oshawott cards are one modern chase rarity, a McDonald's issue and several promotional printings.
Most of the value in Oshawott cards sits in the Black & White era, which supplies 7 of the twenty-five leading cards, followed by Sword & Shield with 4, Scarlet & Violet with 2, and XY and Mega Evolution with 1 each. The newest era's leader is the MEP Black Star Promos Oshawott from 2025, in 5th place overall. Every card in the top ten (10) and the top twenty-five (15) is modern, meaning it comes from an era after the WOTC era that defines vintage.
Among the ten most valuable Oshawott cards, 5 are printed as Common, 2 as Promo and 1 as Illustration rare. Across the leading twenty-five, 10 are Common, 2 are Promo and 1 is an Illustration rare. The ranking is built from commons, promos and a single illustration rare, with McDonald's Collection issues from 2011 and 2021 also among the leaders.
By the value of its single leading card, Oshawott ranks 291st of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 314th of 753. Within the evolution line, Samurott's top card ranks 333rd of 1020 and Dewott's ranks 633rd of 1020, which puts the base form ahead of both evolutions. The Oshawott card market sits in the middle of the species table, held up by one standout White Flare card and a tightly packed group of promos and commons.

Water
Oshawott is the Sea Otter Pokémon, a pure water type that evolves into Dewott at level 17 and then Samurott, or Hisuian Samurott in Hisui, at level 36. It fights with a shell called a scalchop worn on its belly, and Ash's own Oshawott follows him from Professor Juniper's lab in the anime.
