Misdreavus has no pre-evolution. It is a pure Ghost type whose only ability, Levitate, makes it immune to Ground-type moves, and it becomes Mismagius when a Dusk Stone is used on it. It stands 0.7 m tall and weighs 1.0 kg.
That evolution came later than Misdreavus itself. Both Mismagius and the Dusk Stone were introduced in Generation 4 with Diamond and Pearl, so in its original Generation 2 games Misdreavus did not evolve at all.
The species debuted in the television special The Legend of Thunder!, where Marina's Misdreavus, nicknamed Little Miss, was the first of its kind on screen. Much later, in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Goh caught a Misdreavus in Finding a Legend! after finding it casting illusions at the Bell Tower, and it stayed on his team for later episodes.
Misdreavus reached English cards in 2001 twice: as a holo rare in Neo Revelation illustrated by Ken Sugimori, and as Wizards Black Star Promo #39, handed out through the Pokémon League that September. Skyridge (2003), the final expansion Wizards of the Coast produced, added an Uncommon by Atsuko Nishida, and Team Rocket Returns (2004) gave it a Rare by Aya Kusube in the EX era.
From Diamond & Pearl onward it has been printed almost entirely as a Common: 17 of the 22 printings in our catalog carry that rarity. The exception is Ascended Heroes, a Mega Evolution era set that pairs a regular Common by Kazuhisa Uragami with a full-art Illustration rare by mashu. For collectors, that Illustration rare and the Neo Revelation holo are the two printings that stand apart from an otherwise modest run.
A 2001 holo rare illustrated by Ken Sugimori, from the Neo era.
A Pokémon League promo distributed in September 2001, illustrated by Shin-ichi Yoshida.
An Uncommon by Atsuko Nishida from Skyridge, the last Wizards of the Coast expansion.
A full-art Illustration rare drawn by mashu for the Mega Evolution era's Ascended Heroes.
Misdreavus evolves into Mismagius when a Dusk Stone is used on it. It does not evolve from another Pokémon.
Misdreavus is a pure Ghost type, with Levitate as its only ability.
Yes. It debuted as Marina's Misdreavus, nicknamed Little Miss, in the special The Legend of Thunder!, and Goh caught one at the Bell Tower in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
The Neo Revelation holo rare from 2001 and the Illustration rare by mashu in Ascended Heroes stand out from a run that is otherwise mostly Commons.
