Mightyena

Mightyena in the anime: Katrina's guard pack

Mightyena debuted in A Bite to Remember, where Katrina uses four of them to protect a Pokémon reserve; one of them had evolved from a Poochyena that befriended Max. From A Three Team Scheme! onward, Mightyena served as the main Pokémon of Team Magma's grunts through the rest of the Hoenn series.

Mightyena on cards: Ruby & Sapphire to Ascended Heroes

Mightyena's first cards came in the Ruby & Sapphire base set in 2003, a holo rare illustrated by Atsuko Nishida and an Uncommon by Ken Sugimori. Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004) printed villain-team versions for both sides, including two Team Magma's Mightyena by Shin-ichi Yoshikawa, and Double Crisis (2015) revisited the idea with Team Aqua's Mightyena by Mitsuhiro Arita and Team Magma's Mightyena by Hitoshi Ariga.

The late EX era produced its two most unusual cards: Mightyena δ in Delta Species (2005), a Darkness and Metal dual type drawn by Hajime Kusajima, and Mightyena ex in Holon Phantoms (2006), drawn by Ryo Ueda. Astral Radiance's Trainer Gallery (2022) added a GOSSAN illustration, and in the Mega Evolution era Ascended Heroes (2026) printed both a regular Mightyena and an illustration rare by Yano Keiji.
