Kyurem is a Dragon and Ice type Legendary Pokémon standing 3.0 meters tall and weighing 325 kilograms. Its only ability, Pressure, makes opponents' moves use extra PP. In Black and White it waits at the Giant Chasm, and one Unova legend says it was formed from what remained of the original dragon that split into Reshiram and Zekrom. Fans group the three as the Tao trio. It does not evolve.
Black 2 and White 2 gave Kyurem its defining gimmick: the DNA Splicers, an item that fuses it with Reshiram or Zekrom. Fusing with Reshiram produces White Kyurem, which gains the ability Turboblaze, and fusing with Zekrom produces Black Kyurem, which gains Teravolt; the same item splits the pair apart again. Both fusion forms keep Kyurem's Dragon and Ice typing.
Kyurem's first English card is a holo rare in Noble Victories (2011), illustrated by 5ban Graphics. Next Destinies (2012) followed with Kyurem-EX, including an Ultra Rare full art version, and the same Shizurow artwork reappeared as the BW Black Star Promo BW37. Boundaries Crossed (2012) then printed both fusion forms as EX cards, with full art Ultra Rare versions of Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX drawn by 5ban Graphics.
The card mechanics carried the name through several eras: EX in Black & White and XY (Ancient Origins added another Kyurem-EX in 2015), GX in Sun & Moon (Dragon Majesty's White Kyurem-GX #74 is a Secret Rare), V and VMAX in Sword & Shield (Lost Origin's Kyurem VMAX #197 is also a Secret Rare), and ex in Scarlet & Violet, where Surging Sparks printed Black Kyurem ex and Black Bolt (2025) printed Kyurem ex as a Double rare and as a Special illustration rare by chibi. 5ban Graphics holds the most Kyurem credits in our catalog (13), followed by Eske Yoshinob (7), then Shizurow and N-DESIGN Inc. (5 each).
Kyurem gives collectors three names to chase from one Pokédex entry: the base form and its two fusion forms, each with its own art and card history. The Black & White era alone accounts for nearly half of our catalog's Kyurem printings, and the matched Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX full arts from Boundaries Crossed are the natural pair at the center of that run.

An Ultra Rare EX card for the Zekrom fusion form, illustrated by 5ban Graphics in 2012.
The companion Ultra Rare EX card for the Reshiram fusion form, printed in the same 2012 set.
A Secret Rare GX card for the fusion form, from the 2018 Dragon Majesty set.
A Special illustration rare Kyurem ex from Black Bolt (2025), illustrated by chibi.
Using the DNA Splicers item, introduced in Black 2 and White 2, Kyurem can fuse with Zekrom to become Black Kyurem or with Reshiram to become White Kyurem. The same item splits the fusion apart again.
No. Both fusion forms stay Dragon and Ice, the same typing as the base Kyurem form.
Our catalog lists 50 Kyurem printings across 22 sets, covering the base form and both fusion forms.
Kyurem's first English card is the Noble Victories holo rare #34 from November 2011, illustrated by 5ban Graphics. Its first Kyurem-EX arrived in Next Destinies in 2012.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
The leading card is Black Kyurem-EX from Boundaries Crossed in 2012, which makes it the most valuable Kyurem card. All 50 Kyurem cards carry a market value, spanning 2011 to 2025, and the ten leading cards hold 91 percent of the total value. Kyurem card value is concentrated in a small group of cards, led by a few Ultra Rare EX prints from the Black & White era.
Black Kyurem-EX leads Kyurem card value by 1.6 times over the next card, White Kyurem-EX, and both are Ultra Rare cards from Boundaries Crossed in 2012. Kyurem-EX from Next Destinies, also 2012 and also an Ultra Rare, takes 3rd. Kyurem from Dragon Vault, a Common from 2012, sits 4th, and the Special illustration rare Kyurem ex from Black Bolt in 2025 holds 5th. A special illustration rare is a modern chase rarity with full-card artwork.
Of the twenty-five most valuable Kyurem cards, 16 come from Black & White, 4 from XY, 3 from Sun & Moon, 1 from Sword & Shield and 1 from Scarlet & Violet. The newest era's leader is Kyurem ex from Black Bolt in 2025, 5th overall. No vintage cards appear: all ten of the leading cards and all twenty-five are modern, where vintage means the WOTC era and modern is every later era.
Among the ten most valuable Kyurem cards, 4 are Ultra Rare, 2 are Promo, and there is one each of Common, Rare, Secret Rare and Special illustration rare. Widening to the leading twenty-five, 12 are Rare, 5 are Ultra Rare, 4 are Promo, 2 are Secret Rare, and there is one Common and one Special illustration rare. The promos include Black Kyurem and White Kyurem from XY Black Star Promos in 2013.
By the value of its single leading card, Kyurem ranks 42nd of 1020 species with priced cards. By the combined value of its ten leaders, it ranks 57th of 753. The gap between those two ranks fits a market where the top ten hold 91 percent of the value, so Kyurem card value rests on a short list of 2012 EX prints rather than on depth across the full set of cards.
