Horsea

Horsea in the anime: Misty's Horsea

In the anime, a Horsea helped stop a rampaging giant Tentacruel in "Tentacool & Tentacruel" and joined Misty's team, staying with her until she left it at the Cerulean Gym in "The Misty Mermaid."

Horsea on cards: Misty's Horsea, Delta Species and an illustration rare

Horsea's first card is Fossil #49 from 1999, a Common illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. The Gym sets gave it a Misty's Horsea in both Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge, each drawn by Ken Sugimori, and Neo Genesis added a standard Horsea later in 2000. The EX era printed it most often: Aquapolis and Dragon each carried two, and the Delta Species sets Holon Phantoms and Dragon Frontiers printed Horsea δ in types it never has in the games (Fire in Holon Phantoms, Fighting in Dragon Frontiers).

Nearly every Horsea since has been a Common, with two exceptions at the top: Uncommons in Dragon and Dragon Frontiers, and Shrouded Fable's illustration rare #067 by Shinya Komatsu, the only Horsea above Uncommon in our catalog. Promotional prints include McDonald's Collection 2018 and an SVP Black Star Promo.
