Haunter evolves from Gastly at level 25 and evolves into Gengar when traded; in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Linking Cord item does the same job. Its ability, Levitate, makes it immune to Ground type moves. It stands 1.6 meters tall but weighs only 0.1 kilograms, the lowest weight listed for any Pokémon, a figure it shares with Gastly and a handful of others.
In The Tower of Terror, Ash goes to the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town looking for a Ghost type to use against Sabrina and befriends a Haunter. In Haunter Versus Kadabra it goofs off instead of fighting, but it ends up helping Ash by making Sabrina laugh, and afterward it decides to stay with her.
Haunter's first card is the Base Set Uncommon (#29) by Keiji Kinebuchi, whose art returned in Base Set 2. Fossil (1999) printed its only two Rares, a holo (#6) and a non-holo (#21), both by Ken Sugimori. Sabrina's Haunter appears in both Gym Heroes (#58, by Atsuko Nishida) and Gym Challenge (#55, by Ken Sugimori), and Neo Destiny (2002) added Dark Haunter by Aya Kusube.
Apart from Fossil's pair and a promo, every English Haunter card has been a Common or Uncommon, and no Pokémon-ex, GX or V Haunter has been printed. Our catalog lists 32 Haunter cards across 30 sets, 25 of them Uncommon, running from the Wizards of the Coast era to the Mega Evolution era, so a complete Haunter run is a long hunt through Uncommons rather than one chase card.

Haunter's body is mostly gas, and 0.1 kilograms is the lowest weight listed for any Pokémon; Gastly shares it.
No. Apart from the two Fossil Rares and a promo, Haunter's English cards are all Commons and Uncommons.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
Haunter's value is spread across eras more than most species, with leaders from 1999 through 2025. The most valuable Haunter card is the Common from Skyridge, printed in 2003. All 32 Haunter cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 88 percent of the total, so the top of the ranking sets the market for Haunter card value.
The Skyridge Common from 2003 leads the most valuable Haunter cards by 1.5 times over the next card, the Fossil holo rare from 1999. A holo rare carries a foil-treated card image. Third is Sabrina's Haunter from Gym Challenge in 2000, an Uncommon. Fourth is the Haunter from MEP Black Star Promos in 2025, a Promo, and fifth is Sabrina's Haunter from Gym Heroes in 2000, also an Uncommon.
Of the twenty-five leading Haunter cards, 10 come from the WOTC era, 4 from Diamond & Pearl, 3 from XY, and 2 each from EX and Sun & Moon, with smaller counts from other eras. Vintage means the WOTC era, and it holds 6 of the top ten against 4 modern cards, while the top twenty-five run 15 modern to 10 vintage. The newest era's leader is the MEP Black Star Promos Haunter from 2025, 4th overall.
Haunter's ten leading cards are mostly Uncommons: 7 of them, alongside 1 Common, 1 Holo Rare and 1 Promo. Across the leading twenty-five, Uncommon prints account for 21 cards, with 1 Common, 1 Holo Rare, 1 Promo and 1 Rare making up the rest. Haunter card value at the top rests on ordinary printed rarities rather than a run of special rarity cards.
By the value of its single leading card, Haunter ranks 275th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 179th of 753. Within the evolution line, Gengar ranks 17th of 1020 by its top card and Gastly 257th. Haunter's card market is built on a middle-ranking leader with its value concentrated in ten cards, while Gengar's top card sits far higher.
