Gourgeist

Gourgeist origin

Gourgeist appears to be based on bottle gourds and pumpkins carved into jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween, with its habit of knocking on doors before whisking people away possibly referencing trick-or-treating. Its upper body may be based on the candle inside a jack-o'-lantern, with its curling tuft resembling a wick and its hair-like extensions the dripping wax.

Gourgeist on cards

Gourgeist's first card appeared in the XY base set, illustrated by 5ban Graphics, followed by an XY Trainer Kit printing and a Phantom Forces card by Kanako Eo. Crimson Invasion and Evolving Skies continued the line, and Paradox Rift added an Uncommon before the Mega Evolution era's Chaos Rising set printed two Gourgeist ex cards, a Double rare and an Ultra Rare, both illustrated by 5ban Graphics.
