Geodude is a Rock and Ground type from the original Kanto games, 0.4 meters tall and 20.0 kilograms. Rock Head blocks recoil damage, Sturdy lets it survive a one-hit knockout from full HP, and its hidden ability, Sand Veil, raises its evasion in a sandstorm. It evolves into Graveler at level 25, and Graveler becomes Golem only when traded.
In Pokémon Red and Blue, Brock opens the Pewter Gym battle with Geodude before sending out Onix. Pokémon Sun and Moon introduced Alolan Geodude, a Rock and Electric regional form.
Brock's Geodude debuted in Showdown in Pewter City, during Ash's rematch at the Pewter Gym. It shrugged off Pidgeotto and won that round, then fell to a Pikachu Thunderbolt even though Ground types are immune to Electric attacks. Brock later entered it in the P1 Grand Prix, where it lost in the first round.
Geodude's first card is Fossil #47 (October 1999), a Common illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno that Legendary Collection reprinted in 2002. Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge (2000) printed three Brock's Geodude cards between them: an Uncommon by Atsuko Nishida (Gym Heroes #38) and two Commons by Ken Sugimori. Later Commons came in Neo Revelation (2001), Expedition Base Set (2002), Dragon (2003, two versions) and Legend Maker (2006).
Alolan Geodude reached cards in Guardians Rising (2017), followed by Crimson Invasion (2017), two versions in Team Up (2019) and one in Journey Together (2025).
