Drifloon is the Balloon Pokémon, a Ghost/Flying type with a spherical purple body, stringy arms tipped with heart-shaped hands, and a yellow tape-like X mark on its face, that evolves into Drifblim at level 28. Its body is filled with air along with the lost spirits of people and Pokémon, expanding as it collects more souls, and it is known as a Signpost for Wandering Spirits due to its aimless drifting; it is also rumored to be reincarnated from deceased humans, and if it explodes the collected souls are said to escape with a screaming sound. Drifloon and its evolved form are the only Pokémon not introduced in Generation III to be found in the Fluctuating Experience Group, and the only Flying- and Ghost-type Pokémon in that group. Drifloon was also the first Generation IV Pokémon revealed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Fantina's Drifloon debuted in Playing The Leveling Field! and evolved into a Drifblim while battling Ash's Pikachu in that same episode. The species itself debuted in Drifloon on the Wind!, where Marnie and Paige used four Drifloon for transport, three belonging to Marnie and one to Paige, and Ash used multiple Drifloon to hop across a gorge to reach a sleeping Bonnie in Foggy Pokémon Orienteering!, while in PK18 Pikachu and his friends grabbed onto Drifloon to escape Meowth's crew.
Drifloon's first card came from 2007's Diamond & Pearl, illustrated by Ken Sugimori, and Stormfront later gave Drifloon both a Common printing and a Rare Holo LV.X, both illustrated by Atsuko Nishida. Dragons Exalted printed two separate Drifloon Commons illustrated by MAHOU and Kouki Saitou, and Paldean Fates added a Shiny rare Drifloon illustrated by Kyoko Umemoto in 2024.

Drifloon card value is concentrated: the ten leading cards hold 99 percent of the total market value across the species. The most valuable Drifloon card is the Uncommon from POP Series 6 in 2007. Every one of the 19 Drifloon cards carries a market value, and the priced cards run from 2007 to 2025, so the top of the ranking is where nearly all of the weight sits.
The POP Series 6 Uncommon from 2007 leads Drifloon card value by 1.8 times over the next card, the Rare Holo LV.X from Stormfront in 2008. An LV.X is a Diamond & Pearl era holo card printed in a larger format. Third is the Shiny rare from Paldean Fates in 2024, and fourth is the Promo from MEP Black Star Promos in 2025. Fifth is a Common from Ultra Prism in 2018, so even a plain Common sits among the leading Drifloon cards.
Diamond & Pearl supplies the most of the twenty-five leading Drifloon cards with 6, followed by Black & White and Scarlet & Violet with 3 each and Sun & Moon with 2. The newest era's leader is the Mega Evolution Promo from MEP Black Star Promos in 2025, which sits 4th overall. All ten of the leading cards are modern, and so are all 19 of the leading twenty-five. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and no Drifloon card from it appears in either group.
Among the ten leading Drifloon cards, 5 are Common, 2 are Uncommon, 1 is a Promo, 1 is a Rare Holo LV.X and 1 is a Shiny rare. Widening to the leading twenty-five, Common climbs to 14, with the Uncommon, Promo, Rare Holo LV.X and Shiny rare counts unchanged at 2, 1, 1 and 1. Most of the leading Drifloon cards are therefore Commons and Uncommons, with a small group of holo, shiny and promo prints alongside them.
By the value of its single leading card, Drifloon ranks 212th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 241st of 753. Its evolution line has one other member, Drifblim, whose leading card ranks 557th of 1020. Drifloon is the stronger of the two, so the Drifloon card market carries more value than that of its evolution, and within the species the 2007 POP Series 6 Uncommon sets the pace.
