Braixen evolves from Fennekin at level 16 and into Delphox at level 36. It always keeps a stick tucked in its tail, which it sets alight using friction from its bushy fur, using the flame for both attack and communication by drawing shapes in the air. Braixen's line is based on a fox, specifically the fennec fox, and shares characteristics with kitsune and kitsune-mochi, witches in Japanese folklore who draw their powers from foxes.
Braixen is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 409, and in English its Fox Pokémon category is shared by Vulpix, Fennekin, Nickit and their evolutions. Its name may join braise with vixen, a female fox. Its wand-like branch likely draws on mages, and with the stick stored in its fur, its tail looks like a witch's broomstick.
Braixen's first card came in the 2013 Kalos Starter Set, followed by an Uncommon in the XY base set. It also has an XY Black Star Promo by kirisAki. BREAKthrough and Fates Collide each added further Uncommons in the XY era, and Forbidden Light brought a Sun & Moon era Uncommon by Kagemaru Himeno. Cosmic Eclipse printed three Charizard & Braixen GX cards, two Ultra Rare and one Secret Rare, and the pair also has an SM Black Star Promo. Silver Tempest contributed both a base Uncommon and a Trainer Gallery Holo Rare, and the Mega Evolution era's Chaos Rising added a Common by Taiga Kasai.

The Braixen cards span 2013 to 2026, and the most valuable Braixen card is the Charizard & Braixen GX Secret Rare from Cosmic Eclipse, 2019. All 13 Braixen cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 100 percent of the total, so the full value of the species sits inside that group. The leaders come from the XY, Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield eras, with one entry from the newest Mega Evolution era.
The Cosmic Eclipse Secret Rare, Charizard & Braixen GX from 2019, leads Braixen card value by 1.4 times over the next card, the Charizard & Braixen GX Promo from SM Black Star Promos, 2017. Two more Charizard & Braixen GX cards from Cosmic Eclipse follow as Ultra Rares. The first solo Braixen card is the Holo Rare from the Silver Tempest Trainer Gallery, 2022, at rank 5. Below that, Braixen cards are older XY-era prints such as the XY Black Star Promos card from 2013.
Braixen's top 25 splits across four eras: five cards each from XY and Sun & Moon, two from Sword & Shield and one from Mega Evolution. The newest era's leader is Braixen from Chaos Rising, 2026, placed 11th overall. In the top ten and the top 25 alike, every card is modern, with 10 of 10 and 13 of 13, and none is vintage, which here means the WOTC era. The leading cards all come from the XY era onward.
Among the ten leading Braixen cards, three are Uncommons, two are Promos, two are Ultra Rares, one is a Holo Rare and one is a Secret Rare. Widening to the top 25 adds two Uncommons and a Common, giving five Uncommons, two Promos, two Ultra Rares, one Common, one Holo Rare and one Secret Rare. The Uncommons among them come from XY, Fates Collide and BREAKthrough.
By the value of its single leading card, Braixen ranks 178th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 154th of 753. Within the line, Fennekin ranks 448th of 1020 and Delphox 644th of 1020 by leading card, so Braixen's top card sits above both. Braixen cards are carried by a small group of Charizard & Braixen GX prints, with the remaining value in older solo Braixen cards.
