Combee is a small, flying insectoid Pokémon made of three orange hexagonal honeycomb-shaped sections, with female Combee marked by a red abdomen spot. Only female Combee can evolve, becoming Vespiquen at level 21, while males are not known to evolve at all, making Combee the only Pokémon with a gender-dependent evolutionary line to also show aesthetic gender differences. It also holds the lowest base HP and lowest base stat total of all Flying-type Pokémon.
Combee debuted in The Grass-Type Is Always Greener!, leading Ash and his friends on a quest for Enchanted Honey, with more Combee appearing in An Angry Combeenation!. Multiple Combee living on Honey Island and revered for their famed honey appeared in Danger, Sweet as Honey!.
Combee debuted in Diamond & Pearl in 2007, illustrated by Ken Sugimori, followed by Majestic Dawn, Stormfront, Platinum and Supreme Victors. It continued once per era through Undaunted, Plasma Storm, Ancient Origins and Lost Thunder, before Astral Radiance and the Scarlet & Violet era's Paldea Evolved and Obsidian Flames.
