Pokégear 3.0

What it does

Pokégear 3.0 lets a player search for a Supporter card by looking at the top 7 cards of the deck. The original HeartGold SoulSilver wording required showing and taking any Supporter found, while Unbroken Bonds' wording made this optional, letting a player leave a found Supporter in the deck if desired.

Printing history

Pokégear 3.0 first appeared in HeartGold SoulSilver in 2010 with art by Noriko Hotta. Studio Bora Inc. illustrated the Unbroken Bonds printing, which included a Secret Rare treatment, and Ryo Ueda and Toyste Beach illustrated the Sword and Shield through Scarlet and Violet era printings, including the Black Bolt set, giving the card new art in nearly every era it has appeared. Both of its wordings look at the top 7 cards of the deck. It has been Uncommon in every printing except the Common Scarlet and Violet print and the Secret Rare in Unbroken Bonds.

Origin

Pokégear is an item used by Trainers to determine time and position, communicate with each other, and tune into local radio stations in the games. The Pokégear illustrated on this card is based on its design in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The card's search is limited to Supporter cards specifically, distinguishing it from broader search Items that can find any card type.
