Chairman Rose personally sponsors Bede's entry into the Galar Gym Challenge. Years earlier, on a visit to the orphanage where Bede was living, Rose gave him his first Pokémon, the one that becomes his Hatterene. That backing feeds an arrogant belief that the chairman's favor puts him above other Challengers. His hunt for Wishing Stars on Rose's behalf ends badly: he damages a historic landmark in Stow-on-Side and Rose disqualifies him. Opal, the Fairy type Gym Leader of Ballonlea, spots the sulking Bede and asks him to become her successor, and he switches from Psychic types to Fairy types to take over her Gym.
Hatterene carries him through both halves of the story. It is a Hatenna in his early battles and a Hattrem by Stow-on-Side, and its Psychic and Fairy typing bridges his old specialty and his new one. As Ballonlea's Gym Leader he fields Mawile, Gardevoir, a Galarian Rapidash and a Hatterene he Gigantamaxes at the first chance, later adding Sylveon. The Pokémon Adventures manga gives his Hatenna a scene of its own, shattering a boulder that blocks the Galar Mine.
Our catalog lists five Bede cards, and all of them are printings of the same Supporter, which attaches a basic Energy card from your hand to one of your Benched Pokémon. The run opens in the Sword & Shield base set (February 7, 2020) with an Uncommon (#157), an Ultra Rare full art (#199) and a Secret Rare (#207), all illustrated by Naoki Saito. Champion's Path reprinted the Uncommon later that year (#50, September 25, 2020), and Crown Zenith closed the run on January 20, 2023 with a Holo Rare illustrated by You Iribi.
Because every Bede card is the same Supporter effect in a different printing, collectors chasing his cards are really choosing between rarity tiers of one card rather than tracking down separate cards. Naoki Saito illustrated four of the five, giving the Sword & Shield base set and its Champion's Path reprint a consistent look, while the Crown Zenith Holo Rare stands apart with new artwork by You Iribi. The Sword & Shield Secret Rare and the Crown Zenith Holo Rare bookend the run, released roughly three years apart, with the Ultra Rare full art sitting between them as a third option from the same base set.

The Ultra Rare full art version of the same Supporter from the base set, also by Naoki Saito.
A Secret Rare printing from the same base set.
An Uncommon reprint issued later in 2020.
A Holo Rare closing his card run, illustrated by You Iribi.

Bede is a rival Trainer in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield who starts as Chairman Rose's endorsed Challenger before Opal names him her successor as Ballonlea's Fairy type Gym Leader. His five English cards run from the Sword & Shield base set in 2020 to a Crown Zenith holo in 2023.
No published index yet — too few of Bede’s cards trade often enough to strike one.
