Woobat's heart-shaped nostril emits ultrasonic waves for echolocation and can also grip cave walls while it sleeps, leaving heart-shaped marks said to bring good fortune to whoever finds them. Bulbapedia notes Woobat's evolutionary line shares several traits with Zubat's, including sharing the Bat Pokémon category, living in dark places, having no visible eyes while unevolved, and evolving into their final forms through friendship.
In Enter Iris and Axew!, Jessie caught a Woobat in a cave and used it to battle Ash and Iris, defeating Pidove before losing to Oshawott, though she was later forced to give it up to Giovanni as proof of her success in Unova before it returned to her party in Rocket Revengers!. In Sewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest!, two wild Woobat attacked Ash's Sewaddle before being scared off.
Woobat debuted in Black & White as a Common illustrated by MAHOU, and it has remained a Common card through nearly every printing since, with White Flare adding both a regular printing and an Illustration Rare illustrated by Shibuzoh.

Woobat cards span 2011 to 2025, and the most valuable Woobat card is the Illustration rare from White Flare, a 2025 Scarlet & Violet set. All 13 Woobat cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 99 percent of the total, so Woobat card value sits almost entirely in that top group. The newest print leads the ranking, ahead of a McDonald's Collection 2012 card and a run of Black & White commons.
The White Flare Illustration rare from 2025 leads the most valuable Woobat cards and sits about equal with the next card, the McDonald's Collection 2012 Woobat. An illustration rare is a full-art card with artwork that extends across the frame. Third and fourth are Common prints from Boundaries Crossed and Dark Explorers, both 2012, and fifth is the Common from the original Black & White set in 2011. Woobat card value among these leaders is led by one modern chase card, with ordinary commons behind it.
Of the 25 leading Woobat cards, 6 come from Black & White, 3 from Scarlet & Violet, 2 from Sword & Shield, 1 from XY and 1 from Sun & Moon. The newest era's leader is the White Flare Woobat from 2025, which sits 1st overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all 10 of the top ten Woobat cards are modern, and so are all 13 of the leading 25.
Among the ten leading Woobat cards, 8 are Common and 1 is an Illustration rare. Widening to the leading 25, 11 are Common and 1 is an Illustration rare. Commons from Boundaries Crossed, Dark Explorers, Emerging Powers, Cosmic Eclipse, Legendary Treasures, Evolving Skies and BREAKthrough fill out the Woobat cards in the top ten, alongside the Black & White set's own Common.
Woobat ranks 656th of 1020 species with priced cards by the value of its single leading card, and 546th of 753 by the combined value of its ten leaders. Its one evolution line member, Swoobat, ranks 653rd of 1020 by top card. The Woobat card market is built on a single modern Illustration rare with commons beneath it.
