Sceptile is the last stage of the Treecko line: Treecko evolves into Grovyle at level 16, and Grovyle becomes Sceptile at level 36. All three stages are pure Grass type. Its standard ability, Overgrow, powers up its Grass-type moves when its HP runs low, and its hidden ability, Unburden, doubles its Speed once its held item is used up or lost.
Mega Sceptile arrived with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Hoenn remakes, and is the only way Sceptile gains a second type: the Mega form is Grass and Dragon.
Ash's Grovyle evolved into Sceptile in "Odd Pokémon Out," while trying to save a Meganium it was smitten with. In the Kalos series, Sawyer turned out to have a Sceptile too: "A Meeting of Two Journeys!" revealed his Grovyle had evolved, and "Valuable Experience for All!" showed it could Mega Evolve. Tyson also used a Sceptile at the Ever Grande Conference, where it and Ash's Glalie knocked each other out.
Sceptile debuted in Ruby & Sapphire (2003) with two cards: a holo at #11 illustrated by Midori Harada and a non-holo Rare at #20. Team Magma vs Team Aqua added Sceptile ex in 2004, and Crystal Guardians followed in 2006 with Sceptile ex δ, a Delta Species card. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated the Emerald holo, and Atsuko Nishida drew the POP Series 4 card.
Ancient Origins (2015) gave Sceptile its Mega treatment: Sceptile EX and M Sceptile EX, each also printed as a full art Ultra Rare. Lost Thunder (2018) printed Sceptile GX three ways, as the regular card, a full art at #196 and a Secret Rare at #216 numbered above the 214-card set. Yoshinobu Saito illustrated all three of those GX cards.

Sceptile debuted in Ruby & Sapphire (2003), which printed it twice: a holo at #11 and a non-holo Rare at #20.
No. Sceptile is pure Grass. Only Mega Sceptile, introduced in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, adds Dragon typing.
Ash's Grovyle evolved into Sceptile, Sawyer's Grovyle did the same in the Kalos series, and Tyson used a Sceptile at the Ever Grande Conference.

Sceptile cards span the years 2003 to 2018, and all 23 of them carry a market value. The most valuable Sceptile card is Sceptile ex from Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004), a Holo Rare. The ten leading cards hold 91 percent of the total value, so the Sceptile card value picture rests almost entirely on a short list, with the rest of the species' cards sharing the remainder.
Sceptile ex from Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004) leads the most valuable Sceptile cards by 1.9 times over the next card, Sceptile ex δ from Crystal Guardians (2006), also a Holo Rare. Third is the Rare Sceptile from POP Series 4 (2006), followed by M Sceptile EX from Ancient Origins (2015), an Ultra Rare. Fifth is the Holo Rare Sceptile from Ruby & Sapphire (2003). A holo carries a foil treatment on the artwork area, which is the common thread among most of these Sceptile cards.
All ten of the leading Sceptile cards are modern, as are 23 of the top twenty-five, where modern means every era after the WOTC era. Of the twenty-five leaders, 7 come from the EX era and 7 from XY, with 4 each from Diamond & Pearl and Sun & Moon and 1 from Black & White. The newest era's leader is Sceptile GX from Lost Thunder (2018), a Secret Rare, which sits 9th overall among the most valuable Sceptile cards.
Among the ten leading Sceptile cards, 4 are Holo Rare, 2 are Rare Holo, 2 are Ultra Rare, 1 is Rare and 1 is Secret Rare. Widening to the twenty-five leaders, 8 are Rare, 6 are Ultra Rare, 5 are Holo Rare, 2 are Rare Holo, 1 is Promo and 1 is Secret Rare. Holo-treated rarities fill most of the top ten, while plain Rare cards make up the largest group once the list reaches twenty-five.
Sceptile ranks 74th of 1020 species with priced cards by the value of its single leading card, and 76th of 753 by the combined value of its ten leaders. In the evolution line, Treecko ranks 15th of 1020 by top card, well ahead of Sceptile, while Grovyle sits 171st. Sceptile cards therefore form a mid-table market built on a few leading EX-era prints, with the first stage of the line holding the stronger single card.
