Quaxly

Quaxly in the anime

Quaxly debuted in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One) in one of Nidothing's videos, and he was one of the wild Pokémon living aboard the Brave Olivine. Dot officially caught him in Quaxly, We Can Do It, Terastallized him into a Water type for the first time in Trending Terastallization! Dance, Dance, Quaxly!, and he evolved into Quaxwell in Dance, Quaxly! The Blue Medali Step!.

Quaxly's origins and cards

Quaxly appears to be based on a crested domestic duckling or South American crested duck, with its crest resembling a beret, turban, or pompadour and a possible visual pun on the ducktail hairstyle; the teal on its feet and crest may nod to the blue-footed booby, and its behavior may draw on hornpipe dancing. Scarlet & Violet gave Quaxly a Common by Mizue, and Paldea Evolved followed with two Commons and an Illustration rare by Souichirou Gunjima. It also appeared on two SVP Black Star promos, a McDonald's Collection 2023 card, in Surging Sparks, and on a Mega Evolution era MEP promo.
