Metagross is the final stage of the Beldum line, introduced in Generation III with Ruby and Sapphire. Beldum evolves into Metang at level 20 and Metang into Metagross at level 45; in the lore each step is a fusion, two Beldum making a Metang and two Metang making a Metagross, which is why it is said to have four brains.
Its standard ability, Clear Body, stops opponents from lowering its stats, and its hidden ability, Light Metal, halves its weight, which weakens Low Kick and Grass Knot against it. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gave it a Mega Evolution, and Mega Metagross is the heaviest Mega Evolved Pokémon.
The Beldum line is the only one outside Legendary and Mythical Pokémon with a catch rate of 3, and in its debut generation none of the three could be found in the wild. Metagross is also the ace of Steven Stone, the Champion in Ruby and Sapphire, and his Metagross can Mega Evolve in the anime and the Pokémon Adventures manga.
